STATS AND STRATEGIES
Super Mario RPG
HP: 1000
Offense: 140 (Normal) 70 (Magic)
Defense: 80 (Normal) 80 (Magic)
Speed: Slow.
Items: A seed.
Points: 120
Attack Pattern:
You'll have to fight Megasmilax to make it any further on the map screen. In battle he uses Petal Blast, which turns all characters into Mushrooms, Flame Wall, which causes a small amount of damage to everyone, and S'crow Dust which turns your characters into scarecrows. He also uses Drain, which causes small damage to one character.
Basic Strategies:
Regular attacks seem to be the most effective way to fight Megasmilax, but you might want to use one or two Snowy or Psych Bomb attacks to wear him down and get rid of
any regular Smilaxes that are helping him. Jump is pretty good too.
Advanced Strategies:
Finish off the Smilaxes first so they can't put you to sleep. Make sure at least one party member is wearing a Trueform Pin or something else that prevents them
from turning into Mushrooms or Scarecrows.
The best team for this fight is probably Mario, the Princess and Mallow. Geno is also a good alternative. Psych Bomb and Snowy can weaken all of them at once
and then the more powerful characters can quickly finish off the Smilaxes before taking on Megasmilax. Using Mario's most powerful Jump attack will take Megasmilax down fast.
The seed Megasmilax drops can be combined with the fertilizer (found in Nimbus Land) and turned into a giant beanstalk by the gardener in Rose Town. The beanstalk leads to the Lazy Shell - the most powerful weapon Mario can find in the game.
