BACKGROUND:
Bowser is Mario's arch-nemesis. He is a large turtle, although many mistake him for a dragon because of his ability to breath fire, and his large, sharp teeth. He has bright red hair, and a big, spike-covered green shell.
Bowser is always causing trouble for the Mushroom Kingdom, and is especially fond of Princess Peach. It seems that he has a bit of a crush on her, according to his secret diary.
Recently, Bowser was married to Princess Peach by the malevolent Count Bleck. Peach, however, denies the validity of that particular wedding.
EVOLUTION:
In Super Mario Bros. Bowser had no hair but otherwise he resembled the dragon-like, spiked turtle that the Mushroom Kingdom knows and hates today. He was only the same size as Super Mario.
Bowser grew in Super Mario Bros. 3 and it featured the first appearance of his hair, albeit more orange than the red that he sports in artwork and newer games.
Super Mario World saw the largest Bowser design so far: his head was as big as regular Mario! Bowser's Koopa Klown Car was introduced as well.
In Yoshi Topsy Turvy Bowser appears in both a paper cut-out form and his familiar 3D-animated form from more recent games.
