Bowser steals the wish-granting Star Rod and uses it to lift the Mushroom Kingdom castle right out of the sky and make himself invincible. He defeats Mario, but it turns out that the seven Star Spirits who guarded the wand can help Mario overcome its power. This game was the first "sequel" to Super Mario RPG, created by Nintendo developer Intelligent Systems after Square stopped making games for Nintendo systems.
