Mailbag December 2005

August 2005 Mailbag

We asked: What do you think about the Revolution? Let's see what everyone has to say!!!

Revolutionary Question

Why does every one love the revolution it will be mass produced poorly like the play station (sorry abut my harsh talking) but come on a system that you have to download stuff on not a good idea I think that playing Mario on the computer sucked but unless you can hook up the old controller's (game cube N 64 snes NES Atari and game boy and game boy color I'm not blowing hundred bucks.

Not everyone loves the Revolution. And I don't include the Xbox 360 and PS3 fanboys in that.

The fact that you are able to download 3-4 separate generations of videogames is probably going to be the MSP (Main Selling Point) for everyone. Not only does it mean that you get to play your favourite classic games (like... um... Donkey Kong 64, Pilot Wings, Pokemon Snap) but it also gives a chance for those out there who never played older games (for whatever reason) like Paper Mario (not many people played this gem, and so were confused when Paper Mario TWO was released) to try them out. And Nintendo are experimenting with improved graphics to get the best they can. In my opinion, a few extra levels wouldn't go amiss. So it means that they'll have the chance to upgrade the games as well as improve them with extra content. Whether they'll do so has yet to be seen...

One other thing, they have only confirmed SNES, NES, N64 and possibly CD-I (I'm not certain about that one, you'll have to bare with me for that one) games.

And about the controller. There are a lot of rumours flying around. Its meant to be the reason it's called the Revolution. It could be configured for old games. If not, then they'll sell the original controllers. But hey, I'm not complaining at the idea of using the old N64 controller again!

David adds: Word is that Nintendo will let you plug your GameCube controllers in or use a new controller "shell" similar to the GameCube one, which attaches to the "remote" controller. This should be fine for most games, although I hope Nintendo puts a bigger d-pad on the shell controller!

Is one Google the same as one Tubba Blubba?

just wanted to say that I really enjoyed your site when I found it.

Personally, I'm a huge fan of Paper Mario. I have never seen a game like that before (I found your page when I were Searching for Tubba Blubba. )

Perhaps there could be some more Paper-monsters in the future.

Yours
Oleo from Norway

P.S: Don't bother too much with Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door. It is far from PM's level

Christopher

I personally never truly played Paper Mario. I played the second one for Gamecube and I haven't seen another RPG come close (except maybe Baten Kaitos) but it's each to his own, right?

I'm working on a new Paper monster, and we have to go through each game (even Yoshi's Topsy-Turvy) to see what we can see! Which is generally a LOT!

David adds: I thought the original Paper Mario was a little better, too, but I still love the second one.

No no no! Flavio hates you all! *cries*

Hello I think you need some data on Captain Flavio. And maybe Some New Koopa data and Maybe Some New Bob-omb data too. It's been long since the last time I mailed you. Well I'll be 13 on the 27th.

Mario's Fan

P. S. I Write comics & credits

I dunno about Flavio. He's cowardly, stupid, not truly an enemy and overall just plain cowardly. Ok, he was instrumental into getting Mario off the island, but that's it really.

We'll try and get some new data, but it's tricky keeping up with it all! New enemies and old ones crop up in pretty much EVERY game!

Oh, and happy birthday!

Halloween's been and gone! Get over it!

Hey can you guys add 3 main ghosts from Luigi's Mansion to your Compendium? The first one is green and pretty big who throws bananas and the 2nd one is blue and looks like speedy spirit but he causes sonic booms by hitting the ground. The 3rd one is sometimes purple or red and they grab Luigi and usually there's another ghost that pops you in the mouth while he holds on you so Luigi cant move. If you cant add them, can you at least tell me there names or at least some of there names? Thanx

The first one is what I call a Green Muncher, simply because he munches on bananas. The next is known as a Blue Slammer, you can probably guess why. The purple and red ones that grab you are Lock-Arms.
Dunno if these are official names, but that's what I'm calling them!

David adds: I have the Nintendo Power Guide which I'd consider pretty official, but I have to say, I like Jimmy's names better! I believe the one that eats bananas is boringly called "Green Ghost" by Nintendo Power.

3.14 HA! BEAT THAT!

That's it for this month's Mailbag! What should the topic be, huh, huh, HUH?!
Hang on... brain clicking...
OH! There are a ton of Mario titles being released the past few months! What are your views on them? How good is Mario Kart DS, really? And is Mario Superstar Strikers good or just plain average?
Oops, look at the time! Gotta fly!
