Read on, sweet prince.

Austin Been thinking too much about boos...

Hey. My name's Austin. I've been coming to your site for a while, and I really enjoy it. But I think there should be some new Boo info based on recent games. For example, Boos don't seem to be spirits of the undead, but rather seem more like a ghost-like species of creature. You know, kind of like the Ghost Pokemon. You should try and explain the evidence of this too. Don't worry about scrounging the info up. I've done that myself:

Dark
As we all know, Boos tend to hate light and prefer to live in dark places. When faced with light, they fade away or hide in furniture. But this trait isn't completely ghostly. Boos are simply nocturnal creatures that prefer to be active at night. Consider their small black eyes. Like insect-eating bats, Boos eyes may be very sensitive to low light conditions, allowing them to see better in the dark. Bats also use echo-location to help them see. Perhaps that explains the snickering sound that Boos tend to make. The sound is very high-pitched, and it echoes. Boos may have lifestyles similar to insect-eating bats, explaining their love of dark, spooky places.

Scaring
Boos LOVE scaring people. This is stereotypical of ghosts in both American and Japanese culture. But maybe Boos are just in it for kicks. It's been stated before that Boos love to play tricks on people. This also involves jumping out and scaring them. All creatures that are featured in spooky forms of media like scaring, not just ghosts.

Haunting
Boos tend to haunt old castles and mansions. Most ghosts haunt the place where they died, trying to finish unfulfilled business they didn't accomplish while living. Boos haunt any place they think is dark and scary enough. Just a hangout to help them scare off people.

Make-Up
Boos may not be truly undead creatures, but that doesn't explain their ghostly powers at all. Why don't Boos' feet touch the ground? How can they go intangiable or turn invisible? Well, though, they aren't members of the living dead, Boos are composed of ectoplasm. Ectoplasm carries a negative charge, and it's hard for it to hold on to its atoms. This gives Boos a very unstable make-up, making them able to become intangiable and fade out of sight. In this sense, Boos are similar to the ghosts of Danny Phantom and Ghostbusters. In SMW1, there is a floating blob called a Bubble Boo that floats around ghost houses and tries to hit Mario. It might be a Boo in its earliest form. It's a big blob of ecto-goo that attacks in a similar way that Boos do, by floating around and trying to hit you. Because of this, my friend and I call it a Goo-Boo. My theory is further proven in Paper Mario: TTYD. At one point in the game, you recieve an E-Mail from a Boo. It appears that the Boo had no trouble typing the message. But later in the game, you get an E-Mail from a ghost called Ghost T. In his E-Mail, he states that an ethereal being such as himself could not type a message, and that he had to possess a train conductor to write it. But the Boo just typed the mail by himself [Very badly, though. His message made no sense whatsoever.] without possessing anyone or anything. This means that Boos are NOT ethereal beings, and are tangiable [Unless, of course, they go intangiable...].
Boos also appear to be functioning members of society. In Paper Mario: TTYD, Boos are seen running casinos and item shops. I hope you consider putting some of my info in the Boo sections. Thanks for listening.

Jimmys says:
I would just like to point out that the world of Super Mario is totally different to the world of Pokemon. In Pokemon, you'll find that each Pokemon is actively based on a creature from real world mythology and/or real-life creatures (there are exceptions like Wobbuffet, obviously). Whereas in Super Mario World the creatures there are almost never based on real-life things.

Anyways, I always think that a person's interpretation of ghosts tend to be totally different. Whilst the Boos in Mario don't really act like proper ghosts, after all, some of them play Baseball and Tennis, I don't believe they were meant to. First off, tons of Boos love darkness and scaring people, but, similar to people that die and become ghosts, they are all individuals and there's nothing to say that ghosts can't develop resistances to things like sunlight.

Also, Bubble Boo I think is more of a natural phenomenon then a proper ghost or "Boo" – I don’t think it actively chases you down, it simply moves up and down whilst moving towards you. Nothing unusual about that... Next you'll be telling me that grinder and Ball 'n' Chains actively swing in your direction because they're acting like Chomps!

Also, just remember, the point of videogames is to have fun. Things don't necessarilly HAVE to make sense. Let Boos be Boos, I say, because I think you're taking it a little too seriously.

David adds: Neat debate guys. I'd just like to point out that "Bubble Boo" is technically named Big Bubble, as seen in the Super Mario World credits.

Movie Masters

Hello Again,
Well Um oh i think you should put in the data for Toadbert From Mario & Luigi Brothers through time. Well I'm now entering into the movie buisness. My idea's Called Super Timmy's Big Movie based on the comic by me. i'll kinda be in the lead roll and the bro Jimmy. heh heh.

Well talk to you soon
Mario's fan
Tim J.

P.S. Super Jimmy's not based on you

Jimmy Piranha says:
Super Timmy’s Big Movie sounds good, make sure I get a copy!
And what is his name? Jimmy or Timmy?

Toadbert isn't a monster, therefore he doesn't get a page.>

Oh, and there's only one Jimmy Piranha, no movie can ever portray t3h hotness of teh n00b d3str0yer – J1MMY P1R4HN4!!!1!!!eleven

Spyware... just kidding

You should have a seperate section for Shy Guys. Also you should add Spy Guy because I don't see him and he is one of my favorite shy guys! Of course I am a fan of Paper Mario and that's when I came across Spy Guy. I came across your page by searching for Shy Guy.

P.S. Great graphics and Good Pictures!

Jimmy Piranha says:
I don't see why... Shy Guys are just... Shy Guys. I don't understand how they need a seperate section of the site...

And I never played Paper Mario 1...

David adds: Unless you just couldn't find this page. Isn't that separate enough?

The Koopkids

As you know Bowser has sons in Super Mario Bros. 3 and Super Mario World. So Bowser Jr. is not the only Koopakid. Also for Bowser's page it says Bowser Jumior instead of Bowser Junior.

Jimmy Piranha says:
Bowser Jr. Has been in debate for a very long time. His status as Koopaling is not something I'm willing to discuss either.

And you spelt Koopa Kids "Koopkids" – I WIN!

David adds: That typo on Bowser's page should be fixed now.

How I learned to love my job

Thanks for your answer!!
It was fun to get it!!!

Thanks again and good luck with the monster!

Oleo

Jimmy Piranha says:
I L-O-V-E the Mailbag...

That's it for this month! Next time, it's the Wii! What do you think about it? Wiill it be good or a bag of Wii? Will I ever get better puns? Find out next time!
