BACKGROUND:
Stumpets are born from new lava formations in the rock. How they come to life
is unknown, but it has been suggested the Volcano itself is filled with living
magic. Stumpets seem to be able to shoot Magmuses from their tops, suggesting that
they have a symbiotic relationship with the rock-insects. The theory is that
Magmi larvae need extremely high temperatures to mature, and are "incubated"
inside Stumpets.
Stumpets are not mobile, but they have very powerful explosive attacks so it's
wise to keep your distance from them. Sometimes defeating a Stumpet is the only
way to get further into Barrel Volcano.

BATTLE PLAN:
Attack Pattern:
On the map they stay in one place, and erupt occassionally, creating Magmuses.
In battle, they take one turn for "getting furious!" and on the next turn they
use one of their attacks. Va Va Voom will cause high damage to one character,
and Backfire causes medium to high damage for one character. Usually you will
fight one Stumpet and a bunch of Magmi.
Basic Fighting Strategies:
It can take a lot of hits, but it also causes a lot of damage, so you may want to
take Stumpet out first, so it doesn't get to attack on it's second turn.
Advanced Strategies:
One possibility is to use Snowy or Ultra Jump to take out the Magmi and damage
Stumpet all at once. This is a pretty good strategy for reducing the amount
of damage your party takes. Stumpet's attacks can't be blocked.
