After getting booted out of Mario's castle in Super Mario Land 2, Wario decides to steal as much booty from the Brown Sugar pirates as possible so he can build his own giant castle and make Mario jealous.
The game plays a bit like Super Mario Land 2, with hats acting as the power-ups. Wario's shoulder bash move also set him apart from his heroic nemesis.
