BACKGROUND:
Sentry beams were first manufactured by Bowser as he went into space. Bowser thought he could outsmart Mario with completely new enemies and its attack pattern of shooting circular lasers. They are purple, and have a spot on their head that when jumped on releases a coil that Mario uses to reach new heights.
Frustrated by the design flaw that allowed Mario to get higher, the Koopa Troop designed yellow versions with spikes that had to be dodged. Then, the troop designed the ultimate form: a metallic grey model that shot laser blasts from its mouth.

Attack Pattern: Purple and yellow press down on the ground 3 times when Mario is near, creating slow-moving circular beams of energy. Grey shoot guided streams of lasers out of their mouths.
Basic Strategies: Purple - Jump to avoid the beams, and jump on their heads to stun them and release a spring.
Yellow/Grey- Try not to get too close to them.
Advanced Strategies: Purple- Stun it with a star bit from a distance, and the jump on the spring.
Grey- Wait for it to start firing from a distance (where it can't reach you) and run across while it's recharging.
